SILENT JAZZ – ABOUT SAX - ARTHUR BLYTHE

Golden October

An evening to remember: four high-calibre musicians on an intimate stage. Arthur Blythe performed alongside Simon Nabatov on piano, Dwayne Dolphin on bass, and Tommy Campbell on drums. For Blythe, this quartet may have felt like a stripped-down setup – standard, perhaps, but far more than ordinary.

What unfolded was a finely woven musical dialogue: emotionally charged, dynamic, narratively rich, and marked by remarkable depth. Blythe’s saxophone playing felt almost like speech—moving with effortless fluidity and expressiveness through the group's musical flow.

The recordings used for this graphic interpretation shown here were made in 1998.
