SCULP TOUR — SAGITTARIUS

Town hall in view
In front of the New Town Hall in Hanover, an impressive structure from times of municipal prosperity, stands the Sagittarius. The sculpture, created by Ernst Moritz Geyger around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, depicts a life-sized archer cast in bronze.
With his bow drawn, he directs his gaze – and his arrow – at the Town Hall, like a modern-day Robin Hood in front of the Sheriff’s castle. As someone born under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius, I feel a certain connection – even though I don’t possess a bow.
