Tinkerbells Flight
Independently of each other, we both decided in favour of the HBK Braunschweig. There was a lack of space there and it was almost impossible to concentrate on our work. So we shared a communal studio in Hanover with other art enthusiasts. It was a colourful mess - less cramped, more lively and inspiring in unexpected ways.
It was there that I took the photographs that I - much later - processed into the sequence shown here:
My main realisation from those days? Yesterday I tore the ribbon with a proud chest, but a little later it was enough to lace my hiking boots for the rest of the way.
The moments of having created something are the real drive, the moment that lets the reward flood into body and mind. Failure was a faithful companion and my best teacher. This has remained true to me to this day.
The picture on the left shows me in a spontaneous portrait sketch made by Sebastian. On the right, I have portrayed the creator of this biting humour with my modest means. Proof that Loriot could have been one of Sebastian's many fathers...
