Homage to a genius
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, a universal genius, was more than just a thinker - he was an architect of the world of ideas.
Stefan Schwertfeger, has designed a steel sculpture in the form of an imposing silhouette that reveals the striking profile of this last polymath. Complemented by a list of numbers, it refers to one of his most ground-breaking achievements: the binary system - the basis of the modern digital world.
In the summer months, the wandering sun transforms the sculpture into a living work of art. Between 9:00 and 12:00, the shadows of the nearby trees cast a shadowy wig over Leibniz's face, creating a new, unexpected depth.
Could this perfect coordination between art, nature, and time not be seen as an expression of the “pre-stabilized harmony” as Leibniz once conceived it? Or are we perhaps only seeing the mischievousness of a friendly coincidence?
